Luang Prabang to Vientiane

5 Day Tour

Day 1: City Tour – half day

Breakfast at your hotel, then continue your tour with a visit to Wat Xiengthong. This wat emphasizes the uniqueness of Luang Prabang, with its several roofs sweeping low to the ground, and its impressive classical tree of life.
After, visit the exhibition Hill Tribe Museum, and the Royal Palace where you will find a collection of gifts from around the world and other items of interest preserved from this World Heritage town.

After lunch relax, or explore the town.

Day 2: Luang Prabang – Kayaking on the Nam Ou river

After breakfast you will ride in a zongtael for about two hours to Ban Lathahae. Before you begin kayaking your guide will explain techniques such as how to pass the rapids and rocks. You will then take the kayak down the river for an enjoyable and exciting trip. Lunch is on the bank of the river. There is also a stop at Ban Houay Lueng, home of Kmu tribe people.
Then continue to the historical Pak Ou caves at the confluence of the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers. Our car or zongtael will pick you up there for transfer back to Luang Prabang

Overnight stay at the Lotus Villa hotel.

Day 3: Luang Prabang – Kwangsi Waterfall

After breakfast we will visit the Kwangsi waterfall. This park is lovely and great for swimming. The people of Luang Prabang find herbal medicines here and the caves were also used as survival shelters during the 1964-1973 secret war.

Picnic at Kwangsi waterfall and later in the afternoon return to town and relax. Overnight stay at the Lotus Villa hotel.

OPTIONAL: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Caves (this may lengthen your trip.  All our tours can be customized at your request)

In the morning after breakfast, take a short trip out of town to an Organic Farm at Pung Van village and learn about local agriculture – the growing of rice, fruit and vegetables. You will also see how sticky rice is steamed ready to eat.
Back in town for lunch, and then in the afternoon enjoy a boat cruise to historical and sacred Pak Ou Caves, where Lao people make offerings every year in April. There are two caves, upper and lower, containing 1,500 statues of Buddha.

Back to Luang Prabang before sunset. Overnight at the Mekong Riverview hotel.

Day 4: Arrive in Vientiane

Our tour guide picks you up and transfers you to your hotel for check-in.
In the afternoon your guide will show you around Vientiane and visit some famous Wats. At Wat Sisket there are 10136 Buddha statues built between 1818-1824. Continue to Wat Horprakeo, original home of the emerald Buddha.
Wat Xiengkuan is an interesting blend between Hinduism and Buddhism.
After that you head to the UXO project for the blind in Laos.

On the way back to the hotel we will stop on the bank of the Mekong for sunset. Overnight stay at the City Inn hotel.

Day 5: Ventiane

After breakfast, tour Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Visit Wat Sisaket, the oldest and most beautiful temple in Vientiane, and Ho Prakeo, a royal temple turned museum. Visit that Luang Stupa, the most revered shrine in Laos, and stop at Patouxay (the Arch of Triumph). Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue to wat Xieng Kuan – a combined Hindu and Buddhism zone, and then back to your hotel to relax.
